The Daily Trading Coach

Well, here's the proposed cover for the new book. It will be divided into 101 short "lessons", each covering a specific aspect of or approach to the coaching/developmental process and offering specific exercises to incorporate into a daily routine.

Every major approach to the change process will be covered; quite literally I'll be showing readers how to be their own "brief therapists" and then apply the methods to their trading.

My goal is to write the most complete, most practical self-help book possible. More to come!

I like the blackboard and the whistle! Elite training is part and parcel of sports; the application of elite training to trading is an idea that has come, and you are in that vanguard. Bravo!

I like the arrow pointing at a 45 degrees angle and up north - good omen.

Looking forward to your unique instruction manual book.

Hello,

Great to read you as usual.
Concerning the graphics of your book, I would not draw an obvious uptrend (the chart)(everyone else does, and makes it easy to trade), rather, have a huge obvious "downtrend" ..... let the readers fully understand the "importance of getting a coach" before its too late :)

Dr. Steenbarger,

I have benefited so much already from the suggestions in your previous book, Enhancing Trader Performance, and from the tips on your blog...I will definitely buy the new book as soon as it comes out!

Also, I don't know if you're familiar with Eckhart Tolle's book, A New Earth, but his passages on the voice of 'ego' were really pivotal for me. Since reading (and re-reading) his book, I've been able to very quickly recognize and silence any negative self-talk that arises while I'm trading (something I struggled with mightily before). Instead of berating myself, I'll quickly assess: what do I need to do right now? And for the most part, that's working pretty well.

Now, if only I can overcome my compulsion to exit winning trades too soon! It's near the top of the list of things I'm working on :)

Thanks much for the supportive comments. A good portion of the new book will be devoted to techniques for changing one's self-talk.
